Grade 2/3

Hola! My name is Manuel Merchan and I started teaching at Coalbanks in 2020.  I am originally from Colombia and have been calling Canada home since 2006. I completed a BA in Environmental Science in 2012 and discovered a passion for teaching while volunteering at the Calgary Zoo. After graduating from the education program at the University of Calgary, I spent 2 years teaching in Northern Alberta’s Indigenous communities. Aside from teaching, I can be found hiking, climbing, backpacking, and camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains along with my wife, daughter and pup. I strive to help students develop into kind and independent learners, who care about each other and our planet.
