I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome all of our students and families to Coalbanks Elementary School. This is a very exciting time as we plan and create a new school in Lethbridge School District No. 51. It is very rare that an administrator can say they had an opportunity to open a brand new school. I am honoured and excited to have been selected to be the first principal of Coalbanks Elementary. Accepting this position was like a ‘coming home’ for me and my family as we have many family and friends in the community.
I attended the University of Lethbridge where I completed my combined Bachelor of Arts/Education degree. Following the completion of my degree I received my first teaching position in Medicine Hat. While I was Vice Principal at Ross Glen School I completed my master’s degree through Gonzaga University in Administration and Supervision.
Prior to accepting the position at Coalbanks, I have spent the previous 21 years working for Medicine Hat School District No. 76. During that time I worked at Central Park School, Ross Glen School and Southview Community School. I taught grades one to five in these schools. I was Vice Principal at Ross Glen School and Principal at Southview Community School for a total of 16 years in administration. I am someone who embraces change and was ready for a new challenge.
I am so excited to be working with Lethbridge School District No. 51 and with the community of Coalbanks. Together we will have the opportunity to create a fabulous school culture and one that always puts students first. Welcome to all students who will be attending Coalbanks Elementary School! We want to ensure that the transition for every student is a smooth one, so if there is anything I can assist with, please don’t hesitate to contact me at your convenience.
I would like to invite every family to visit our school and get to know our amazing staff. We have an open door policy and invite families to visit any time and to bring things to our attention. I invite all of our Coalbanks families to get involved in your children’s educational experience-the more you put into it, the greater the results. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or positive comments regarding the staff or school. We would like to create a wonderful partnership between our school and our community. As we embark on the opening of Coalbanks we ask for your patience and co-operation as we develop our school culture and invite you to be part of this process. Thank you for choosing Coalbanks Elementary School and thank you for the opportunity to work with your children!
